PETER YEADON, 2008 FINALIST

SMARTSCREEN

Peter Yeadon

SmartScreen is an intelligent shading system for windows and glass facades. Its numerous apertures open to permit sunlight to pass through the membrane when solar heat gain is beneficial for warming interiors. When heat is not needed, the apertures close to prevent sunlight from entering the room. The system requires no electricity.

SmartScreen continuously regulates heat transfer through glazed openings, lessening the energy consumed by mechanical cooling systems without consuming any power itself. This energy conservation directly contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
