PETER VAN DOMMELE: 4-D CHAMELEON
Plan: The company produces "4D" building surfaces made up of rotating cartridges whose multiple sides face outward at different times in response to the environment. Functions include absorbing solar energy, collecting rainwater, reducing CO2 and displaying messages. They can be installed on surfaces including facades, roofs and fences. The company says an accompanying economic model provides for free clean energy and pollution reduction and encourages companies to go green.
Biography: From 1986 Peter worked in several management and operational positions in the international General Construction industry. The red line in his career has always been green. From industrial soil remediation, environmental technology, advanced rural development to sustainable added value production of building products.

5 QUESTIONS
1. Please introduce yourself
My name is Peter van Dommele, 49 years old, married and father of two children. I was born in the Netherlands but throughout my youth I mainly grew up abroad in countries such as Nigeria, France, Belgium, Scotland and England. I have always been attracted to sports. I used to swim competition and play soccer. I coach a youth soccer team and am chairman for football club VV Sliedrecht. After the athenaeum I finished industrial engineering studies whilst working at an international consultancy firm on international tendering.
In my professional career I have been able to create opportunities to learn and develop myself in several sectors and disciplines. I have always worked in the international building and industrial business sector. My ambition is to create a climate proof world and future without sustainable compromises and with respect to economic and social targets. That's why I decided to start up Sublean Group with a enormous talented group of people and partners. I'm a believer of multi tasking surface and object development!
2. Can you shortly describe your Green Challenge entry?
The 4-D Chameleon concept is a 24/7 multi-tasking rotating system that can be installed on existing and new surfaces to be able to supply, purify, compensate and communicate. Depending on the task, the system consists of square or triangle bars, which we call 4-D modules. Each 4-D module is built from applications (4-D Applications) that in turn are subdivided in four returns or outputs, namely supplying, purifying, compensating and communicating.
The unique model of the 4-D Chameleon Concept is that 24/7 applications can change, innovate and economically interact together in order to speed up a climate proof building and living environment future. Every surface within our building environment can participate and create sustainable economical and social value. 4-D Smart & Green!
3. Where did you get this idea?
I believe that in order to adapt and transform our way of living we need to be part of the solution instead of the problem. The idea came up when thinking about methods of changing the DNA of our existing and new building and living environment. It had to be modern so we could associate and feel comfortable with it, mainstream applicable with solutions and cutting edge technology to get scalability, create the bases for a sustainable fair barter economy exploitation model.
We found out that every human being could have free access and influence to using, benefit and/or buying from surface developed products and services. We worked on the technology that would be able to give every build surface on earth a 24/7 sustainable exploitation and economy, to be able to adapt whenever we want or need to, as the chameleon does in a natural environment.
We invented the 4-D Chameleon concept in order to be able to adapt in welfare, wellbeing and development. Sustainable, smart, green and participating to the solution.
4. Why do you want to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions? Where does your drive come from?
My commitment towards sustainability and environmental dilemmas is profound. CO2 reduction is necessary not only to keep our world livable but to enable others to live. In order to change the system we must act with and for the crowd in a positive, modern and benefitting way. To show that CO2 reduction is normal and beneficial at the same time. I know we can do it.
5. What difference will your plan make if it comes to market if you win the €500.000 Green Challenge prize?
We would be able to start up lauching projects in the field faster and create the velocity platform to other projects and developments. We would use the extraordinary network of the Postcode Lottery to create alliances in order to address opportunities and roll out worldwide with local partners.
