MARTY PICKETT

Marty Pickett is Executive Director, General Counsel and a Trustee of the Rocky mountain institute, an entrepreneurial nonprofit 'think-and-do tank' that drives the efficient and restorative use of resourses. At RMI, Marty focuses on the Institute'sstrategic direction to facilitate the transition from fossil fluels to efficiency and renewable energy, and also leads RMI's development strategy and Board governance.   

Marty holds a Masters degree in Community Development and Planning from the College of Architecture and Planning of the University of Colorado, and a Juris Doctorate degree, with an emphasis on environmental law, from the University of Denver. Prior to joining RMI in 1998, Marty practiced land use planning and land use and real estate law in Denver and Aspen Colorado. One of her specialties was conservation easements, and she represented RMI during the Institute's purchase of an interest in and creation of the 922-acre conservation easement on the Windstar Land Conservancy property in Snowmass, Colorado, in 1996.

Active in community issues, Marty served as the organist for the Snowmass Chapel for over 20 years, has served on the board of the Aspen Camp School for the Deaf, and was a founding director of the Snowmass Western Heritage Association. Marty is currently President of the Windstar Land Conservancy, a founding director of the National Versatility Ranch Horse Association, and an Advisory Board member of the Center for the Environment at Catawba College in North Carolina.
