2010 Green Challenge finalists 2010 Green Challenge finalists


Wow, that was quite an exiting day! The five finalists of the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge: Arian, Teun, Gunawan, Scot and Jason rose above themselves in front of the jury and the public when they each presented their idea in a short ten minutes. Each of them fuelling the crowd with enthusiasm. And hope.

For if this much talent gathers around good ideas, we might win the race to diminish CO2 emissions to an acceptable rate.

The PR team is now gathered around a table in the Amsterdam Art Hotel to write most of the Press Release based on the five wonderful presentations we've seen today. Tomorrow we'll know who will take half a million euro home to bring their wonderful product to market. And who will be the runner(s)-up...

  • At the door the finalists are waiting to be called in...Pernille La Lau welcomes all the guests to the Deciding Round of this year's Green Challenge.   • Prince Friso of Orange Nassau introduces the Jury: Liesbeth van Tongeren, Jim Walker, Sigrid van Aken, Ian Marchant, Marty Pickett and Kofi Nketsia-Tabiri are the ones who'll pick the winners

  • Dean Gregory, last years winner is here, and is applauded! Margriet Schreuders -chairwoman- explains about the Preliminary Jury, Aart van Veller, Jeffrey Prins, Jan-Paul van Soest

  • Arian Khamooshian goes on stage to tell us about GreenMotionTechnologies, a new way of producing energy. The GWEC converts waves into energy. Arian tells about his business plan... Now he's answering questions from the audience. More information on Arian here.

  • Teun Wagenaar is now presenting his idea: Smart Energy Glass. His company Peer+ focuses on energy reduction in buildings, Smart Energy Glass holds back heat and thus reduces emissions. Glass is the most common used building material in the world... Teun is explaining what the market for his product is. The ten minute presentation of Teun is done and now he'll answer questions from the public... Find out more about Wagenaar.

  • Gunawan Kusuma is next with his idea: a foldable container: FOLDIT by Holland Container Innovations. @gkusuma starts his 10 minute presentation with telling us how his son Jason was born last Sunday. 16 million containers travel worldwide and it will double in 2020. Folded 4 containers take up the space of one. 20% of them on sea and 40% on land travel empty. Gunawan explains his plans with Holland Container Innovations and concludes his talk, now his 5 minutes of questions starts... More information on Gunawan.

  • Scot Frank is on now with his SolSource, presentation starting now... 2,5 million people live in houses filled with smoke, 1,6 million per year die from smoke poisoning. The lightweight SolSource provides energy, can be cooked on and provides heating. Scot shows us what the SolSource can bring to people: more time, safe light and clean air, and what the market for his product is. @scotfrank has his 5 minutes of answering questions.   • Jason Aramburu is on now with his Re:char in a 10 minutes presentation. Deforestation is responsible for 10 - 15% of the worlds CO2 emissions. Biochar takes the CO2out of the air and puts it into the soil for thousands of years. Jasons business model is one of franchise that brings profit to those who need it. Jason now shows how 500,000 euro will be put to good use if he wins, reed more about him and his Re:Char. Now his 5 minutes of questions starts... ...and thus @re_char concludes the nerve-wracking Deciding Round. Find out more on Jason.

  • One by one, the Green Challenge finalists had their private moment with the Jury and are now having interviews at the Pacific Cafe. #picnic
