A YEAR TO REMEMBER

BLOGPOST, Friday 5 August 2011, 16:59, editor

This year, the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge received a record number of submissions. A total of 717 people from around the world have submitted their green business plan for consideration for this year's award.

Until the very last minute on Friday night, contestants were firing off emails to our help desk about their entries, and submitting their business plans. 189 of the 717 ideas were only received last Friday the 29th of July. Kind of funny when you remember that the Green Challenge already started on May 2nd….

It looks like the Green Challenge has now truly become a global phenomenon - this year the Postcode Lottery received submissions from 81 countries! As expected, the greatest number of submissions came from the Netherlands (231), but were closely followed by the US (101), UK (91), and India (92). This year, the most popular categories were Energy, Lifestyle, Mobility, Design and ICT, in that order. 117 of the green entrepreneurs are women.

What a great way to celebrate our 5th anniversary!
