1 YEAR AFTER THE GREEN CHALLENGE

Almost one year ago I became the runner-up of the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge 2009 with the Ephicas SideWing.  The Ephicas SideWing is an aerodynamic side skirt for truck trailers that reduces the fuel consumption with 9%, contributes to a better environment because of 9% less CO2 emissions and other hazardous gasses and increases the safety for other road users.

The competition requires realisation of a product or a service within the next two years. We expect to be ready to start sales in 2011.

Being the runner-up has given us an enormous boost.

Hereby an overview of activities performed during the past year:

• December 2009: installation of first Ephicas SideWing prototype
• January 2010 - February 2010: installation of 13 SideWing prototypes by TNT, DHL, STAS, Jan de Rijk, The Greenery, Ahold, Peter Appel and Jan de Rijk
• January 2010 – September 2010: Operational and circuit tests of prototype I
• March 2010 – May 2010: Redesign SideWing prototype I, design prototype II ready
• May 2010: Independent performance test of the Ephicas SideWing
• June 2010 – July 2010: small redesign and first installation of Ephicas SideWing prototype III
• August 2010: Lifetime tests of Ephicas SideWing prototype III

The next steps are to finalise the product, prepare for serial production and start sales activities.
